Joining
Joining Eagle AC is easy, just turn up at the CIT track (directions below ) on a Tuesday or Thursday evening between 6.30 and 8pm, and ask for Eagle. (Eagle AC comprises of adults only but shares the track session with Belgooly AC, a juvenile club.) Currently, the Club comprises approx. 160 adult members, of
which approx. 90 are male and 60 female. Standard of members varies from Beginner & Novice, through to International, and ages range from the mid 20's to Senior Masters (we won't say how old <grin>) so there will definitely be a niche for you.
If you'd like to try a few sessions before committing yourself to joining, We'd be happy to accommodate you, so why not give it a go!!
To join Eagle AC, just fill out the on-line form and mail it to

. Alternatively, forms can be got at the track and returned to any committee member, or mail it to Club Treasurer: Kevin Sievewright, 1 The Brambles, Classes Lake, Ovens, Co. Cork
Membership is €50 (€60 for familes) for the year and includes all track fees (i.e. unlike most other clubs, there is NO weekly subscription!). However we prefer not to see the money until you're happy that Eagle is the Club for you - so give it a try - it'll only cost you your time!
Interested in other aspects of athletics?
If you are interested in getting involved in other aspects of athletics, such as coaching, organizing or admin, Eagle AC would like to hear from you, even if you have limited or no experience in the areas involved.
Eagle AC is Cork's fastest growing athletic Club and has need for your time and expertise. Just because you are retired from running, can't or don't run doesn't mean that you can't contribute to the sport. Eagle needs coaches, administrators and lots of other people. Be Active!! Get involved!!
Trips
Most years, members organize ad-hoc trips to various events, both in Ireland and abroad. In 2005, trips were made to Krakow (Poland) - some 30 members participating in Marathon and Half-Marathon, Berlin (Germany) - some 13 members participating in Marathon and Half-Marathon, Venice (Italy) - three members participating in Marathon. In March 2008, a large contingent ran in the Edinburgh Half-Marathon. In 2009 and 2010, Many Eagles took part in the Berlin, Paris, New York and Rotterdam
Marathons, amongst others.
One of Eagle AC's key events for several years was the Wicklow Way Relay, held each June. In 2005 Eagle even had two teams in the 125km, eight leg relay, placing 11th and 23rd respectively.
Coming to the track for the first time

Parking:
Parking is available at the track, in the new car park, immediately at the rear of the track.
Coming in from the Melbourne Road roundabout, go straight through the next roundabout (right leads to Leisureworld and left leads to the CIT campus). Take the first left after the roundabout. Follow the pedestrian route back to the track. Distance is approx. 100m.
Changing & Shower Facilities
Changing and shower facilities are available at the track. There are Ladies and Gents changing rooms adjacent to the track, along the pedestrian walk from the new car park. However Eagle AC recommends that Ladies use the changing facilities in the Gymnasium on campus.
Note: NEVER, EVER leave valuables unattended in the changing rooms.
What to bring with you to the track.
Obviously a good pair of "runners", shorts, t-shirt/top and tracksuit are essential. A spare tee-shirt/top, for warming down in afterwards, is advisable. For wet nights, rain gear of some sort would be helpful.
Training Schedule
We train three to four times a week as a group, mixing road, track and trail. If you're interested in joining the club, just show up at any training session and run with us. Feel free to come along for a few sessions to make sure that you like what we do, before making the commitment to joining the club. We're always looking for new members, so don't be shy. If you're a lapsed member, you already know what we do. Why not come back?
