Organised by Eagle AC, in conjunction with Fota Wildlife Park, and sponsored by John Buckley Sports and Laya Healthcare , The Cheetah Run will take place at 8pm on Thursday May 16th 2013.  The 4 mile course will largely be held on private roads entirely within the grounds of Fota Wildlife Park and the adjacent Fota Estate, and completely off the public roads.

Starting inside Fota Wildlife Park, the race takes in about 1.5 laps of Fota Wildlife Park, before heading out onto the Public Works area of the island, after about 1.5 miles, passing by the Scouting Ireland campsite, before continuing on past Fota House, arboretum and gardens. After the gardens, the race turns back into the Wildlife Park, through the new entrance plaza and then takes in another full lap of Fota Wildlife Park.  The finish is close to the old Wildlife Park entrance.

NB: Because this race is being run through a wildlife park, where there are many obstacles, including free roaming animals and birds, the wearing of headphones of any kind is absolutely prohibited during the race.  The organisers reserve the right to physically remove any headphone wearer from the race.  In addition, headphone wearers who manage to come through the finish area may be removed from the results sheets.

This year, the race start is the same as last year. Competitors will approach the start line from behind, i.e. directly from the entrance but the race will then head directly towards the restaurant

She’s lean, she’s mean, she’s fast, she’s hungry and ….

She’s waiting for YOU!!!

You will cover this road on the way out and on the way back, so we are asking the slower runners to please keep to the right hand side on the way out, or they may impede the leaders returning.

Passing back through the start line, you now have approx. 400m to go to the finish - be sure to look to your right to see the cheetahs pacing up and down, watching their 'food' run past!
