Proposed 3k Series & Eagle Track Sessions Draw big Numbers!
Eagle track sessions on Tuesday nights continue to draw big numbers.
Every Tuesday approx. 35 Club members take to the track, largely under
two of the Club coaches.
The largest group, under Club Coach Liam Doherty, comprises of about
20 athletes in three distinct groups. The group has been progressing
well and already results have been seen with the ladies retaining the
County Senior XC title and taking the Bronze in the Novice XC.
The second group is under Coach John Quigley and is following John's
annual "Belgooly Schedules" aimed at the Belgooly 4 on Stephen's Day
(or,for those that won't be in Cork at that time, another 4 or 5 Miler
around the same time). There are about 10 in this group and are broken
into two sub-groups aiming at sub 28 for the 4 miler and 28+. This
group trains on both Tuesday and Thursday.
New members are welcome in both groups.
The Club is currently examining the feasibility of running a 3k
series, confined to Club members, on the track on one of the Club
nights, probably Thursday, in the new year. The idea is that there
would be a race every 3 to 4 weeks, with 5 or 6 races in the series.
