The weather for the event was mild and bright and the course for the men consisted of 8 laps of an approx 1000m circuit. The course itself though rough in places was mostly dry. We had 7 men taking part but unfortunately only 3 on the O/35 team when we needed 4.  After slogging around in muck the previous week Dave Muldowney was glad to see a course with grass on it and he ran strongly throughout to be our first finisher in 13th position. Very little separated Pat Power, John Desmond and Pat Murphy for most of the race and they ran consistently to finish 24th, 25th and 26th respectively. Pat Twomey was tracked by Tim Joe Buckley (Donoughamore) and Maurice Tobin (Grange Fermoy) for most of the race but a strong last few laps took him clear of the chasers to finish in 37th position and take the O/55 gold medal in the process. Paul Cotter ran steady all the way to finish 49th and anchor the O/50 team to the silver medals while John Quigley in 57th is making steady progress in his return to fitness.

It proved a successful day overall with Pat Twomey taking individual gold in the O/55, Pat Murphy individual bronze in the O/50,  combining with Paul Cotter to take the silver medals in the O/50 team category. Dave Muldowney, Pat Power, John Desmond and Pat Murphy comprised the team that took the bronze medals in the Intermediate category.
