Eagle Women Take County Intermediate XC Title, on a very successful day for the Club!
Full report from the very successful day will appear later. (Results are done from memory, so apologies for unintended errors)
Eagle's Intermediate women's team won the event. Eagle's Anne Marie Holland, competing in only her second cross-country event ever, won the event, with Hannah Wootton taking the Silver medal. The other scorers were Maura Regan, Anne Marie Power and Sharon O'Flynn.
The women also captured the womens F35 team title, with Anne Marie Healy winning the overall event with a late surge, to pip Louise Kavanagh, representing the host club, Bandon AC. With some 400m to go, Louise had a lead of about 30m, but Anne Marie put in a blistering finish to catchher with about 150m to go. The other scorers (I think) were Anne Marie Holland, Anne Marie Power and Sharon O'Flynn (I'll probably get an earful if I got this wrong!!)
The men were fourth, just outside the medals in the Intermediate event. First home for Eagle was Diarmuid O'Sullivan, who ran a great race. The other scorers were Paud Walsh, Pat Power and Pat Murphy, with Conor O'Brien, Pat Twomey, Colm Glavin, Paul Cotter, John Quigley, Grellan McGrath, and Tony Merritt completing the Eagle line-up.
The men did get in the medals in the men's over-35 team and the over-50 team, taking Gold in the M35 andSilver in M50 team events. The M35 team consisted of Paud Walsh, Diarmuid O'Sullivan, Pat Power, Grellan McGrath, Colm Glavin and Tony Merritt, while the M50 team was Pat Murphy, Pat Twomey, Paul Cotter and John Quigley.
Pat Twomey won the M55 category.
