In the relay, Eagle bragging rights went, by a nose, to the 'old crocks' of Golden eagles, who completed their third successive sub 3 Cork relay.  The team comprising Paul Cotter, Mike McGrath, John Quigley, Derek O'Keeffe and Laurence Courtney finished in 15th place in a time of 2:59:52.  Just behind them were the 'Murphy Eagles' team of Joe Murphy and Pat Murphy, who finished in 16th place, just inside the 'magic' 3 hour barrier by the smallest of margins; 2:59:59.  Gaining on Golden eagles during the closing stages, Pat said afterwards " I just ran out of road'.

Special Mention must go to the 'C Team - Cancer Survivors', which included John Quigley, taking part in his second relay leg of the day, having earlier run for 'Golden Eagles'. This very special team, comprising solely of Cancer survivors, finished in a very creditable 406th place from 1139 finishing teams, in 4:01:24.
