Race Information & Instructions
Race Flyer
Sponsored by Fota Wildlife Park and organised by Eagle AC, the Cheetah Run will take place at 8pm on Thursday May 20th 2010. The 4 mile course will largely be held on private roads in Fota Estate, off the public roads. Starting inside Fota Wildlife Park, the race takes in much of the Wildlife Park during the first mile. After approx. 1.25 miles, the race enters the Public Works area of the island, and passes by the Scouting Ireland campsite before continuing on past Fota House and gardens and exiting onto the main Cork-Cobh road, just after the two mile mark. The public road section comprises a mere 245 metres, following which the race turns left, back into the Fota Estate, rejoining the Public Works road about 200 metres west of Fota House, completing a loop of about one mile. Passing back along the Public Works road, through the three mile mark, the route turns back into Fota Wildlife Park at the railway station entrance to the park and continues for about 0.75 miles finishing close to the main entrance.
The last half mile should prove to be 'different' to most races, with the residents of monkey island screeching their appreciation and acclamation for the efforts of the race participants.
|
NB: Because this race is being run through a wildlife park, where there are many obstacles, including free roaming animals and birds, the wearing of headphones of any kind is absolutely prohibited during the race. The organisers reserve the right to physically remove any headphone wearer from the race. In addition, headphone wearers who manage to come through the finish area may be removed from the results sheets.
